Short Bio
“For me, art is a rich & passionate love affair, an obsession. It can consume & frustrate, soothe & console. A voice from somewhere deep inside, it is the place where private thought and intense emotion are allowed free reign, and imagination knows no boundaries.”
Statement
With a passionate love for art, and a seemingly restless and sometimes rebellious spirit, I present my current work. I allow my imagination to take complete control developing shapes, designs and ideas drawn strictly from my imagination. Thus appears my own interpretation of a leaf, a crowned bird, flower or butterfly and continually build from there. I have crossed paths in depth with nearly every medium: watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, colored pencil, charcoal, graphite, conte, ink, and mixed media. The fortune has been mine to work successfully in many genres including landscapes, florals, portraiture, still life and abstraction. But working solely from imagination is not only the most challenging, but has also proven to be the most fun!!
Biography
I have been an artist as long as I can remember. I was maybe four or five and laying on our wooden floor I distinctly remember pulling a green crayon across the paper, watching the grain of the wood magically appear. “I want to do this the rest of my life…” And I have.Following that path has taken many forms. Thus, over the many years I have been creating, I have crossed paths in depth with nearly every medium: watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, colored pencil, charcoal, graphite, conte, ink, and mixed media. I have studied the elegance of form, light, receding, advancing, reflecting. Slivers of light washing over the form before me, sculpting it into my own interpretation. The fortune has been mine to work successfully in many genres including landscapes, florals, portraiture, still life and abstraction. I have been and remain, self-taught.
